This course provides a basic training in first aid for any employee, either to act at the lower level of first aider or in support of more qualified first aiders. The programme covers basic procedures and skills with an emphasis on the management of the situation/treatment of a casualty until more qualified help arrives or the casualty is referred for medical advise e.g. GP, A & E etc.

The core content of the course is listed below but additional topics may be included subject to client requests and time available.

On successful completion of the course participants will be awarded a certificate.

At the end of the course participants will be able to:

• Assess and prioritise a first aid incident
• Deal with an unconscious casualty (including seizures)
• Carry out resusitation (CPR)
• Control bleeding and manage shock
• Use and maintain first aid kits
