Course Content
This qualification is aimed at people who have a responsibility to provide First Aid whilst undertaking activities, such as sports, swimming, hiking, rock climbing, etc.

This course provides theory and practical training in a range of first aid skills that people may encounter whilst taking part in outdoor activities some time or distance from emergency help.

The core content of the course is listed below, the emphasis on training will practical and will include scenario based training with use of simulated casualties on day 2.

On successful completion of the course participants will be awarded a certificate valid for 3 years
Outcomes
At the end of the course participants will be able to:
  • Assess and prioritise a first aid incident
  • Deal with an unconscious casualty
  • Carry out Resusitation CPR
  • Control bleeding and manage shock
  • Use and maintain first aid kits
  • Recognition and treatment of choking
  • Recognition and treatment of injuries to bones muscles and joints
  • Recognition and treatment of suspected head, neck and spinal injuries
  • Recognition and treatment of chest and abdominal injuries
  • Treatment of eye injuries
  • Recognition and treatment of Poisoning
  • Recognition and treatment of Asthma and Anaphylaxis
  • Recognition and treatment of Major illness
  • Recognition and treatment if the effects of extreme hot and cold
